The campaign asked fans to make a pledge to reduce carbon emissions. Pledges were simple, fun and easy to achieve and, if upheld, were accompanied by entry into a prize draw where fans could win anything from a signed T-shirt to a meeting with their favourite football player.

The Carbon FootyPrint campaign was created to build on the success of the Save Your Energy for the Blues campaign that E.ON ran in partnership with Ipswich Town FC. E.ON used its sponsorship of the FA Cup to create a carbon neutral tournament by sensitising fans to ways in which they could reduce carbon emissions from travel by considering alternative forms such as car sharing, bus and train travel.
